The idea of functional art as sensory-rational reflections on a human being, nature and society, and their intricate relations actually forms the basis of a new exposition of the Odessa Museum of Modern Art that continues the experiment started in 2017.

The collection of the Odessa Museum of Modern Art contains works of Odessa artists starting from 1950s – 1960s till now.
Odessa MoMA largely combines different generations, styles and languages in its display — quite traditional eclecticism of a regional subculture. However, it is more efficient to consider this as an attempt of secular "unction", treatment of total lack of mutual understanding by "collecting".

The nominal structure of the display consists of floors ("thematic levels") and rooms (visual "podcasts"). The structure, however, is only spatial and does not attempt to clearly outline and name the topics. No less nominal are subtopics of the display.Possible names and interpretations of the display are not formulated, but rather intuitively entailed.

MoMA's new display does not merely offer to have a look at indisputable "pieces" of Odessa artists from different generations, but to jointly meditate upon and share the issues all of us are concerned about.
The wide educational program devoted to new museum practices and Odessa unofficial art is planned in the frame of exhibition.
